Activating my starters for fermented goodies was a success!  One week later and we are rolling in kefir and sourdough.  This is what the bottom shelf of my fridge looks like right now: sourdough starter, whey, kefir, yogurt, and bone broth.  I gotta say, I'm feeling pretty good...Almost five years ago, I didn't even know what most of this was and now I'm making it at home - WOOHOO! Sidenote: I need physical evidence that I do something during the day...motherhood is beautiful but sometimes I need other things to give me a sense of purpose.
