I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching couples go from just-married to parents! It’s the best! Several years ago, I photographed Mark and Nicole’s wedding (which was a dream!) and now I’m capturing them with their new little guy, Carson. And in all seriousness, these two ADORE their son. It was such a joy to watch them interact. I mean, Carson is laughing or smiling in basically EVERY picture…and he’s 8 months old! So much love…so beautiful.

Hershberger | Family/Couple

This family. They’ve been dear friends for as long as I’ve been in Ohio, and they’re AMAZING. They’ve had an unbelievably difficult year and I wanted to make sure to capture some JOY… We initially decided to do an epic beach session with no kids…because how often do parents get to do this? Basically, never. ha! We get there and the beach is preeeetttty much uninhabitable because of the wind. We spend about 5 minutes photographing what we can and then bail. Round two: we head to a friend’s farm (Venture Heritage Farm) with the kiddos. Turns out, we should have done this from the start because it was perfect. It’s inspiring to see this crew still smiling and laughing after such a rough year. Like I said, they’re amazing.

The Lloyds | Family

This crew. I was so impressed. Eric and Liz have six kiddos, SIX. On top of that, they own one of my favorite coffee shops around: The Sure House Coffee Roasting Co. It’s amazing for so many reasons: locally roasted, fair trade, organic…you get the idea. And y’all, their family is amazing. They are kind and patient and truly some of the best behaved kids…I think some of my favorite observations of this sweet family were two things: 1. they are all different, completely their own individual selves and 2. they are free to express their emotions but they don’t overpower each other. I wish you could have witnessed it. You’ll notice in these images that there is fun and chaos and emotion and love and even sadness. Honestly, it moves me more than you may know. With that in mind, not all the photos will be “happy, smiling at the camera” bits….and I LOVE that. It’s REAL. Eric & Liz, y’all are doing something right. Cheers.
