A Gathering of Creatives

Dwell Hillcrest hosted one of the fabulous Gathering of Creatives events this month and it did not disappoint. Their space is filled with perfect textures in all the right places with loads of natural light streaming in from every angle. It was the ideal place to host a gathering focused on design. Abigail Miller (http://abiartcreative.com/), Kendra Miller (http://www.kendradawnphoto.com/), and Shyla Yoder (https://loveshyla.com/) are the women behind these gatherings and they are creative masterminds. Take some time to check them out. Red Mug Coffee kept us all warm and alert with their incredible coffee as we listened to fellow women business owners share their stories. Women like Claude from The Chris & Claude Co. and Rae from Daughters of Promise Magazine. (If I'm being honest here, I was SUPER intimidated/star-struck, to the point where I couldn't even make eye contact...I'm ridiculous. Ha!) There was also space for learning all kinds of things, from lettering techniques to budgeting for our businesses...we covered a lot of ground. Basically, it was a weekend filled with beauty. Beautiful people, beautiful food, beautiful spaces, beautiful textures, beauty everywhere.

Wreath Foraging

When authenticity meets creativity, it brings about art in it's purest form. This Foraged Wreath Workshop, hosted by The Seasonal Collective, set the stage for us to do just that. Led by Rachel Forrer, we started in the woods at Venture Heritage Farm, breathing in the crisp cold air and trimming branches, berries, and dried foliage. After collecting our treasures, we returned to a shop space to begin creating masterpieces. It was messy and wonderful and smelled like Christmas. Grapevines were filled with greenery and slowly took shape until wreaths were formed. I know this may seem like a simple workshop but there's something magical about using your hands and the raw elements of God's creation to form something beautiful. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches

Christmas tree hunting has become a legit Gerber family tradition, and I kind of love it. Brenner Tree Farm is home to countless amazing Christmas trees and this is where the magic happens. My littles run through aisles and aisles of beautiful evergreens and play rounds of hide and seek while we hunt for the perfect tree. Aaaand my man with a saw isn't too bad to look at either. ;) It's neat to look back through photos of these adventures in years past and compare them to our present. I am so grateful for my sweet little family and the sacred traditions of Christmastime.
