This Autumn elopement was a dream. To be a part of something so intimate is such an honor. With only a handful in attendance, you could feel the importance of every moment. No frills, just love and more love. Chad and Gwen are the sweetest couple, ever. They didn’t care it was drizzling and cold, and they weren’t worried about getting muddy. They were just so dang happy to be getting married!
I don’t even know where to begin because this wedding was literally unforgettable. The day started off like most weddings do. We arrived at Varian Orchards under blue skies and sunshine. The ceremony was outside (my FAVORITE!!) and as Laura walked down the aisle, the weather shifted very suddenly. It went from sunshine to EPIC DOWNPOUR in a matter of minutes. I am not exaggerating when I say it was raining cats and dogs. FOR REAL. But the beautiful part of this whole experience was watching everyone’s response. The officiant didn’t skip a beat. The bride and the groom looked around and started LAUGHING. And the guests…the guests didn’t move. They embraced the crazy weather and got SOAKED. It was incredible! The venue owners ran around trying to find umbrellas for folks, but overall, people were getting drenched. My husband was a life-saver as he handed myself and the bride and groom the two clear umbrellas we always have on hand…(saving both of my cameras, and the Bride’s hair - both very important!) And friends, it gets better. Moments before Chris and Laura’s kiss, the rain stopped and then appeared a full RAINBOW!!!! It completely covered the ceremony space right as they kissed!!! The clouds vanished and they exited the ceremony with sunshine!! I can’t make this stuff up, it was UNREAL!! I could say so much more, but truly, just take a minute and look through their images because they tell the story much better than I can. Basically, it was a day that everyone in attendance will never forget. :)
Blaire is a dear friend I met during an epic study abroad semester in Costa Rica. (SO MANY STORIES). She made me laugh to tears more times than I can remember. When I found out she was engaged, I secretly hoped she would ask me to be her photographer..mostly because I wanted to follow her around all day and I wanted to ensure my invite to her wedding. Ha! Seriously though. ANYWAY...I was honored to capture her spectacular marriage to a spectacular guy at a spectacular venue (Houston Station). It was beautiful and wonderful and all the things. :) Oh, and it was in Nashville, TN which is a city I now need more excuses to go and visit. SO FUN!
